Suzana Sultan's review of The Brain that Changes Itself
5/5: My favorite book of all time. Neuroplasticity is a gift that is often underestimated. This book had me intersecting in researching this as a future neuroscience. How do we learn, why some people do and others have difficulty ? How can the most challenging neurological diseases be managed using the concepts and advantages that a neuroplastic brain offers.
Suzana Sultan's review of A Short History of Nearly Everything
5/5: This book is nothing short of genius. Learning the stories of the world’s true science pioneers is what we really need to know so we could appreciate their work even more. This book is the ultimate Time Machine that can make you earnest about going out there and being you, creating your achievements.
Suzana Sultan's review of Sapiens
5/5: My favorite book as of date. It gave me a clearer perspective of where we’re in time as humnity. As someone interested in different field, and neuroscience and psychology, this book gave me a developmental background of our species that is essential in understanding where our behaviors are now stemming from.
Suzana Sultan's review of When the Air Hits Your Brain
4/5: A great reference for neurosurgical practice then and now. How our minds are not limited and there’s always chance for recovery.
Suzana Sultan's review of When Breath Becomes Air
I read this book half way through med school. It humbled me and has since influenced my attitude towards patients and towards myself as well. It was also one of the earliest books that motivated me to pursue neuroscience. Heartbreaking but what a legacy can one person leave behind, that could inspire others. My favorite quote : ‘This is not the end Or even the beginning of the end. This is just the end of the beginning.’
Suzana Sultan's review of Gifted Hands
4/5: A story of faith, hard work, dedication and reward with the pursuit of leaving good legacy. I was inspired by Dr. Carson’s journey and I hope to follow in his footsteps.
Suzana Sultan's review of Pre-Suasion
This is a mind blowing take on the human subconscious. Enlightening how we are influenced, how to influence ourselves in the first place and how to influence others in a positive way.
Suzana Sultan's review of How to Have Impossible Conversations
The amazing narrative of this book is stunning. It’s how you become a master negotiator, understand where others are coming from and going from there to make your point with respect.
Suzana Sultan's review of How to Talk to Anyone
This book changed my life. No exaggeration. I’ve always been kind of introverted, not a good quality for a medical student learning how to communicate with doctors and patients and nurses. A few chapters in, I successfully handled an argument with a nurse, winning her and becoming on good terms with her, and impressing my fellow med students. It also helped me notice the bad patterns that happen in patient-physician communication, that I have founded an email newsletter to advocate for better communication skills for physicians, ‘The Medicine of Words’.
Suzana Sultan's review of The Third Door
5/5: This book gave me more proof that our wildest dreams are possible. There are many ways to achieve them, just knock the right doors, connect the right dots, any dots, and it’ll come up for you.
Suzana Sultan's review of The Defining Decade
5/5: A handbook for every twenty-something. I saw pieces of myself in every story and the advice in it is just what I needed !
Suzana Sultan's review of Contagious
4/5: This book shaped my perspective on life, human nature and a great journey in the history of the universe of influence.
Suzana Sultan's review of How to Stop Time
5/5: If you’re looking for a way to stop time for real, then this book is for you and not quite for you. This book will take you through the journey of stopping time, and will have you come out completely convinced that short lifetimes are a all we need to live a happy life. What’s the point of life if you had all the time in the world? No point!
Suzana Sultan's review of The Courage to Be Disliked
5/5: A liberating psychological philosophy that we should all consider. Since most narratives link traumatic upbringing with later life perspectives infinitely, this unusual approach is certainly needed to help people in a way break free of the limits they set on themselves.
Suzana Sultan's review of Save the Cat
4/5: A great book guide to know the rules and know how or why you break them and whether it’s worth it
Suzana Sultan's review of The Midnight Library
5/5: To put an end to the never-ending ‘What if’ , you have to read this book and imagine yourself in it. There’s no right or wrong choice in life, there’s just huge possibilities that you have the ability to make.
